FIRE PREVENTION TIP OF THE MONTH - GRILL SAFETY

With summer here and grilling outside being done more and more here are some thing to remember:

  • Keep kids and pets away from the grill area until the grill is completely cool.
  • Place the grill atleast 10 ft. away from other objects, including the house, brush, shrubs, etc.
  • Never leave the grill unattended.
  • Only use the starter fluid made for grills when using charcoal.
  • On a gas grill, always check the connection from the tank to the fuel line to make sure it is securely tightened, is working properly, and doesn't leak.
  • If you suspect a leak do not use a match to check for it. Instead, turn turn the gas off and dont try to light the grill until the leak is fixed.
  • Never use any charcoal or gas grill indoors or in an enclosed area. This could cause carbon monoxide poisoning in addition to being a fire hazard.
